What is the Parenting Puzzle?
Children are rewarding, stimulating and fun, but looking after them can be stressful and challenging.
The Parenting Puzzle courses help deal with those challenges so that you can have a calmer, happier life. They are tried and tested programmes, they helps us think about what we do, why we do it and how it makes us feel.
The courses encourage and support parents & carers to enjoy bringing up children of all ages and to get the best out of family life.
They offer positive, practical ways of guiding children so they learn to handle both their feelings and their behaviour.
The sessions are informal, fun and a great confidence booster.
We offer 2 courses:
4 week programme
These workshops help deal with challenges so that you can have a calmer, happier life, it’s a tried and tested programme that helps us think about what we do, why we do it and how it makes us feel.
We look at a range of topics including:
Praise & Encouragement
Boundaries & Parenting Styles
Choices & Consequences
10 week programme
Over the 10-week Programme, you will look at lots of different topics, including:
Understanding why children behave as they do
Recognising the feelings behind behaviour (ours and theirs)
Exploring different approaches to discipline
Finding ways to develop co-operation and self-discipline in children
Learning the importance of looking after ourselves.
Comments from parents who have attended the course –
Some of the sessions that we covered I found very interesting and one in particular was aimed at family time and listening. I found that I didn’t really listen to my children and realized that is why I was probably shouting a lot as they were doing the same to me. I cant say it has been a miracle cure but I now more aware of listening to my children, sometimes it is painful especially my 3 year old but they seem happier in the long run as I am giving them my attention.
I thought the Parenting Puzzle was really useful and enjoyable and full of lots of useful tips and advice. I also thought it was a great opportunity to reflect on how you and your family are doing and what things you would like to do more of and what things you would like to change. It also reminded me not to get so caught up in the day-to-day chores of family life that you lose sight of having fun with your children!
Our Health Visitor Drop-In Baby Weighing Clinics for January will be held on the following dates:
Bagshot Clinics (held at the Bagshot Sure Start Children’s Centre, School Lane, GU19 5BP) are from 1.30 pm – 2.30 pm and will be held on: Monday 16th January
(Bagshot Clinics are held the first and third Monday of each month)
Lightwater Clinics (held at the All Saint’s Community Hall, Broadway Road, GU18 5SJ) are from 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm and will be held on: Tuesday 24th January
(Please note that Lightwater Clinics are now only held on the fourth Tuesday of each month)
Starting Solid Food Workshop

If your baby is over 5 months, you are very welcome to come along to this workshop. Lois will demonstrate the principles of baby led weaning and provide information on suitable food to give your baby.
