    Welcome to the Bagshot Infant School Sure Start Children's Centre serving Bagshot, Lightwater and Windlesham.

    Our services are available to all families with children under the age of five. The services that are available at the Centre are support for parents - including advice on parenting, local childcare options and access to specialist services for families. Child and family health services - ranging from midwife and health visitor services to breast-feeding support. This includes ante-natal and post-natal classes and a baby weighing clinic. Helping parents into work - with links to the local Jobcentre Plus and training.

Would you like to learn more about Gardening With Your Children?

Notcutts have kindly offered to hold an information session in their cafe on Wednesday 8th February at 7.30pm

They will give you information about gardening with the children – does and don’t, plants to avoid and easy activities to make gardening fun for the whole family.

If it is successful they have offered to run small family workshops in the Spring.

Dental Hygienist Visit

We will be having a visit from a dental hygienist on Wednesday 1st February during our Stay & Play session. If you have any questions or wish to find out more about your child’s or baby’s dental care please come along. We will have some tooth related activities to keep the children entertained!

She will be here from 1.30pm until 3pm

Men in Playwork, Early Education and Childcare Information Session

Looking for a rewarding and worthwhile career?

Considering a career in playwork, early education and childcare?

Why not book a place and attend a free information session to find out more?

We are holding a session here at the Children’s Centre on Wednesday 14th March 9.30am until 12.30pm

These sessions are available to men who are interested in a career with children and young people. They will offer an overview of the early years sector and help you to make an informed career choice.

You will find out about:

  • the range of jobs in childcare, early education and playwork
  • training, qualifications and bursaries
  • career progression
  • how to get started
  • how Surrey can support you
  • hear from men working or volunteering in the sector

Calling all fathers, step fathers and grandads

We are now running Male Carer sessions every other month on a Saturday morning, although of course you are most welcome to attend all our regular sessions too.

The dates for these sessions are:

  • Saturday 28th January
  • Saturday 24th March
  • Saturday 26th May

The session runs from 10am until 11.30am, activities vary but previously we have had fun playing golf, rugby, bug hunting and making crafts.

Weaning Workshops

The Community Nursery Nurse Lois Burton will be at the Centre on the following dates running a Weaning Workshop

  • Thursday 19th January
  • Thursday 1st March
  • Thursday 12th April

This session is suitable for babies who are 17 weeks + , Lois will cover all aspects of introducing solid foods to your baby.

Happy New Year

 

 

Our sessions will be resuming Monday 9th January with Messy Monday at 9.30am until 10.30am followed by Tiddler Time at 11.15am until 12.15am.

Tuesday our Play & Learn session runs at All Saints Hall in Lightwater from 9.45am until 11.30am, Tina is joining us at 10.30am for some Musical Fun.

Wednesday our Stay & Play session will be on from 1.30pm until 3pm.

Thursday is Homebased Childcarers at 9.30am then our new combined session of New Parents and Under Ones is 11.30am until 1pm – the midwive will be available during that time too for any breastfeeding questions.

Tina will be running her music group on Friday at 1.45pm at the Pavilion in Bagshot.

Merry Christmas

We will be closed from Friday 23rd December until Wednesday 4th Janaury, our sessions resume from Monday 9th January (snow permitting – well it’s going to happen sometime soon!) We hope you all have a lovely holiday and enjoy some fun times with your families – we will be, we thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you all lots in 2012. Mum & Little One Fitness

A workout for you where baby comes too!

New for 2012. Mum and Little One fitness is run by one of our mothers and offers you a safe and effective exercise class without the worries of childcare, you bring your baby in your buggy and they will also get the benifit of lots of fresh air! An hour long class with a mix of cardio, strength and toning exercises to help get you back in to shape post pregnancy.

The hour long classes are starting on Tuesday 17th January at The Visitor’s Centre Lightwater Country Park at 11am, Thursday 19th January at 10.30am at the Children’s Centre and  Friday 20th 9.30am at The Visitor’s Centre Lightwater Country Park Classes are suitable for Mums (who have had their 6 week check and been signed off by their GP) with 6 week plus babies and Dads are welcome too.

A fantastic opportunity for you to exercise with confidence in a likeminded group and enjoy a chat whilst you work!

Classes are being run by a qualified trainer who also has a 4 year old and a 4 month old so fully understands the trials and tribulations of wanting exercise and look after a baby at the same time.
